Add one soft serve-esque Number Two in this schedule and we’re golden!
Essentially, I spent the day trying to comfort and sooth my son. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. He wanted me to hold him, but didn’t want me to hold him. He was tired, but he didn’t want to go to bed. He couldn’t make up his mind!
It got me thinking about how I feel when I’m sick. How irritating things are, how icky I feel. It must be the same way for him, except he can’t use his words yet. Now THAT stinks. If there was a way for us to communicate – besides the normal “Baby Cries, Mom Tries Twenty Different Things” method - I’m sure it would make both our lives easier.
Which gets me thinking, again…
For this week’s Top Ten list, I’m going to do HABL a huge favor: since he makes it a point to tell me time and again that he can’t read my mind, I’m going to write out a list for him to use the next time I’m sick! This way, he’ll never have an excuse not to do something again…

The Top Ten Things I Need And Want When I’m Sick
1. Peace and quiet
2. Uninterrupted sleep – I’m on to you. When I am sleeping:
- Do not come over and make lots of noise or sigh loudly so I’ll wake up
- Once I’m awake, don’t pretend that I woke up ‘on my own’
- Don’t ask me to do something for you ‘since [I’m] awake’ – I’M. SICK.
4. To watch chick flicks, uninterrupted
5. To read magazines – guess how? Uninterrupted
6. Hot soup
7. Chocolate chip cookies
8. Juice – preferably guava or orange
9. Lots and lots of sympathy and TLC
10. A bag or two of chips (that I don’t have to share with you)
